Facilities:

Trefonen Primary School is situated in the rural village of Trefonen. Our attractive main building is made up of Key Stage One classrooms, a shared classroom, kitchen, toilets, staffroom, library and administrative offices. The Hall is equipped for PE and is also used for daily assemblies and as a dinning room. In Key Stage 2 there are three classrooms and a storage area.

Our ICT facilities are excellent. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and mini suite of computers. We also have a large number of laptops for classes to use as well as digital microscopes, cameras, visualisers and data logging equipment.

The children in the reception class use both the indoor and out door facilities daily. We have a large canopy which enables outdoor learning all year round and wonderful areas for creative learning.

The playground has marked out areas for netball, along with other educational play time markings. The school grounds, which have recently been landscaped, consists of a reflective garden with water feature, raised beds for vegetables and plants and a hard play area with a variety of equipment available for the children to play with. In dry weather the children are able to work both inside and outside their class bases. Adjacent to the school are extensive community sports fields, the Village Hall and the local Parish Church.

The School Day:

Children can arrive at school from 8.45am. A teacher will supervise the children in the playground from this time. Any children arriving before this time should be attending our Breakfast Club or be supervised by their parents/carers (school insurance does not cover children left on the playground before 8.45am).

(Key Stage One children have a 15minute break during the afternoon)

Break times:
Pupils can bring a piece of fruit or a healthy snack to eat at morning play-time. Sweets, cakes or crisps are not permitted. Children in Key Stage One are given a piece of fruit every day as part of the school’s ‘Healthy Schools’ initiative.

Hometime:

The normal school day ends at 3.15pm. Some school clubs run after school.

Reception and Key Stage 1 children are collected from their door at 3.15pm. Please inform the teacher if someone different from usual will be collecting your child.

Key Stage 2 children are collected from the playground. Please inform us of your permission to allow your child to walk home.

Transport:

Primary aged children are entitled to free school transport if they live two miles or more from their designated primary school. Please see the Mrs Richards in the office for further details. Children going home by bus must assemble outside the hall at 3.15pm
