2024 School Games Finals- Shrewsbury

We could not be prouder of the children who attended the Shropshire School Games on Thursday to take part in the county cricket finals, after qualifying to represent North Shropshire by winning two previous competitions. They competed against South Shropshire, Two Telford teams, Shrewsbury and East Shropshire playing lots of very fast paced games. The children were excellent, they encouraged each other and worked as a super team. We were delighted to hear that after all our games we had won overall and received a beautiful wooden trophy. Many congratulations to our brilliant team!

Girls Only Cricket

On Tuesday 23rd of April, Mrs Phillips took some of the Year 4 and Year 5 girls to play non- competitive cricket at Frankton Cricket Club, just to enjoy and celebrate cricket! They all had a fantastic time. We arrived at the beautiful cricket grounds at 10.00am. We came up with our team name -'The Cricket Crew'. After some fun warm-up activities, our captains played rock-paper scissors and the winner chose if they wanted to bat or field. We had three brilliant games, playing against: Baschurch, Criftins and The Meadows. We all got to practice our batting, bowling and fielding skills by playing in the matches. It was great to meet girls from other schools and everyone was really friendly. Well done girls

NORTH SHROPSHIRE CRICKET FINALS

A team of Year 5/6 pupils represented us in the North Shropshire cricket finals on Wednesday. They played against three other schools, who had also won their area competitions. Our team played superbly, winning their first two games, then only narrowly losing the third. The next match was the semi-final and after more excellent play, the team won, taking us through to the final. In the final, the team absolutely gave it their all, they encouraged each other, worked so hard and scored brilliant runs. Their fielding was superb, making many excellent catches. The indoor game is incredibly fast and very hard to keep score, but we all agreed we couldn’t have worked any harder. We were delighted when the final results were announced and we had won! The team have now qualified for the Shropshire Games finals in May, where they will play teams from South Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and East Shropshire. Many congratulations to you all, you were amazing and we are so proud of you.

Sportsability Cricket March 2024

On Wednesday eight children represented us in a cricket festival at Thomas Adams School, Wem. We had such a lovely morning developing lots of skills used when playing cricket. We took part in mini activities led by Thomas Adams young leaders, who were excellent. It was lovely to see children's confidence and skills develop throughout the session. We finished with a big game with all the children from the other schools. The children were a credit to our school - well done to you all.

2023

A team of 10 Year 5/6 boys and girls took part in a cricket tournament at Ellesmere College. The team were fantastic! They worked together so well, encouraging and supporting each other. They displayed excellent play and perfect

sporting behaviour. We played three matches initially and were so pleased to win all of them! We then had another game, which we won. This took us to the final. When all the games were completed the organiser announced that we had won over all, winning all of our games during the morning. We are all so proud of the children.

10 Year 3/4 pupils were selected to represent our school in a Quik Cricket festival organised by Shropshire Cricket Board, held at Oswestry School. The team were really excellent and we were very proud watching. They played superbly, demonstrating some super batting and fielding skills. We made a super start winning our first match 33-31. In our second match we narrowly lost 42- 43. In our third match we won 35- 25, but then narrowly lost our next match 22-24. In our final two games we won 20- 15 and ended with a loss 22-31. Well done team, you really should be proud of a great afternoon of cricket. It was very exciting to watch.
