Tag Rugby
Tag Rugby tournament 2023
Our Year 5 & 6 tag rugby team performed brilliantly at the recent tag rugby competition at Oswestry Rugby Club, demonstrating superb teamwork, communication skills and tactical awareness. We won 3 out of our 4 group games, before making it through to the semi-final where we just came up short against Whittington Primary. All of our children should be super proud of themselves for their grit and determination, which they showed to come back from a losing position in two of their matches. Well done to those who participated. The team spirit was fantastic! (See photos on Hawks class gallery)
2022
Well done to our tag rugby team who travelled to Oswestry Rugby club. There were an amazing 134 children at the event. It was brilliant to see so many children enjoying playing rugby.
Our team played well, developing their game and team work skills as the morning went on. They narrowly lost their first match 4-2, won the second 2-1, drew 3-3 then lost their final match 4-2. The team finished 4th in the group. All of the players worked hard, listened to advice from the coaches and really enjoyed playing. Our tries came from Alfie, Lucy, Sion and Charlie. During the morning each school were asked to award medals to children from other teams who were demonstrating the School Games Values. We were extremely proud to have four medals awarded to our team- well done Lucy, (who was awarded two!)Sion and Charlie. We are very proud of you and the whole team.
2019
A team of ten Year 5/6 children travelled to Oswestry Rugby Club to take part in the Oswestry area primary rugby Tournament. They played three excellent group matches, winning two and narrowly losing the other. Their fabulous teamwork and commitment took them through to the semi-finals where they lost by only one try. The team finished 4th overall out of the 15 schools competing. Mrs Roach was very proud of their sportsmanship, enthusiasm and determination- well done team Trefonen, excellent!
