Our Christian Values
Learning in love - Growing in faith
Learning in love - Growing in faith
Trefonen school is a strong Christian school led by universal values. This helps to make our school a positive, safe and happy environment that helps all of our children to grow and thrive. We encourage and nurture attitudes of support, respect and care in all our activities and relationships. Our core value is RESPECT. Our school community chose the values that are really important to us, which we celebrate each month:
AUTUMN TERM | SPRING TERM | SUMMER TERM |
September - Community October - Sharing November - Empathy December - Peace | January - Kindness February - Happiness March/April - Hope | May - Love June - Freedom July - Independence |
Our Christian Vision
Our school community also chose the scripture that is embedded throughout the life of our school:
"She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her; and happy is everyone that retains her" (Proverbs3.18, KJV)
Just as a tree has roots that sustain it and give it life, our theologically rooted Christian vision is like the roots of the school. If the roots are nourished, embedded and looked after, the tree will grow and there will be fruit.
From the roots comes the tree of knowledge, which is the knowledge that we gain. If we grow in all knowledge, academically, socially and emotionally we can flourish. Our school is providing the roots and endeavouring to nourishing them so that the fruits can grow, thrive and flourish.
Our curriculum, our school values and ultimately our pupils are all the fruits of the tree.
We choose our values and subject curriculum to grow happy and healthy pupils. Our pupils are both the fruit and the seed for the next generation. Our children are part of the fruit that we are growing until they are ready to go off and be their own, even stronger tree.
This symbol of a tree is evident throughout the school, in reflection areas, on our playground.
